Bupa Australia now offers international health insurance

A new partnership between Bupa and Australian general insurer Mutual Community General Insurance (MCGI) means that Bupa Australia will now be able to offer international health insurance products as part of their product portfolio.

The products will be serviced by Bupa International and insured by  MCGI, and will be available for business and individual customers.

Members who join the new plans will be issued with a new card, jointly branded MCGI and Bupa International. Examples of the new cards are shown above. These will not replace any of our existing Bupa cards.

New collaboration to improve service to providers in China

A new collaboration between Bupa International and sister company Bupa Consulting (Beijing) Co. Ltd has been launched to improve the quality of service we can offer to our Chinese members and providers.

The Bupa Representative office in China was set up in 2006 and, together with the Chinese government, has been working towards providing Chinese consumers with a health insurance solution to complement the current health management system.

In 2011 Bupa Consulting (Beijing) Co. Ltd was established and will now become one of Bupa International’s Service Partners. As with all our Service Partners, it will carry out a range of services on our behalf, such as local provider pre-authorisation and case management.

Partnering with Bupa Consulting (Beijing) Co. Ltd will enable us to:

  • utilise its knowledge and experience within the market
  • provide a more efficient service to local providers in local language
  • offer a greater level of care to our members in China
  • give providers a local contact for pre-authorisation, cover queries and faster claims settlement
  • provide case management in complex cases
