Heart surgery patient returns to Cairo

BUPA International member, 65 year-old Yousouf Boulad, chose to use his evacuation cover to undergo open heart surgery in the UK rather than Cairo, Egypt.

Mr Boulad was admitted to the Anglo-American Hospital in Cairo with a severe cardiac condition. The decision was immediately taken to contact BUPA International to arrange medical emergency evacuation to the UK where it was agreed there was better availability of high quality, professional cardiac surgery.

International SOS Assistance flew Mr Boulad - accompanied by a doctor and nurse - to St Mary's Hospital in London. Mr Boulad received open heart surgery and after a period of recovery he returned to Cairo on a scheduled flight.
